Aims of the programme:

Discovery of life as it is in the society of high-mountain towns and of the importance of tourism and its effects.
- The experience of day-to-day life in a town in the mountain and the relationship to the environment.
- Development of a spirit for observation and analysis of the environment. To become aware of the need to use energy sources and natural resources rationally.

Reflection on the some of main environmental issues of the planet.
In accordance with the aims of the programme, the team of environmental teachers works together with the school’s teachers to produce a programme of activities that matches their requirements in line with the choice of activities available:

An activity to identify and learn about the different species of plants and animals in the water ecosystem of a high mountain.

A journey through the Comial forest, which will reveal the feelings and the sensations a forest can generate.

Follow-up of nest boxes |

A walk to monitor and follow up on the nest boxes. This is an activity that is strongly related to the time of year and the weather conditions.

Cooking with the sun |

An additional activity to the visit to the building, in which the two resources that employ supply solar thermal energy are displayed: the kitchen and the solar-powered oven.

Visit to Son |

A walk around Son to learn about some of the elements to have born witness to the Romanesque age and about the lifestyle of the town's inhabitants in the last century. A visit to the Son old flourmill.

A presentation of the sun as a star and as a resource. This will be conducted in the Observatori Astronòmic observatory to view the main protagonist of the solar system.

Astronomy night |
| |
Discovery of the main constellations of the northern hemisphere and the relationship between them and mythological figures, in a session held in the planetarium and direct observation of the night sky. Pupils in secondary schools, further education and of intermediate vocational training will use telescopes.

A session of nature-themed cinema with a debate held afterwards, led by the education team.

Wildlife of the Pyrenees |

A discussion with slides to present the most emblematic species of wildlife of the Pyrenees, such as the bearded vulture, the capercaillie or the Pyrenean owl.

The sounds of the night |

A night-time walk to learn about the birds of prey and other species that are characteristic of this environment, with special attention to the Pyrenean owl, an emblematic inhabitant of these mountains.
