Master's course Thinking about today's art / The grammar of Contemporary Art.
  • CatalunyaCaixa Social Project and the Department of Philosophy at UAB have included a module designed by Ferran Adrià called Feeding Thought in the Master's course Thinking about today's art / The grammar of Contemporary Art.

This course will run from February to May 2011 in La Pedrera, coinciding with the The Art of Eating (El Arte de Comer) exhibition, which will be staged in La Pedrera from 14 March to 10 July.

The Master's, which began its 21st year in October 2010, is given by Jessica Jaques and Gerard Vilar, professors of Aesthetics and the Theory of Arts at the UAB's Department of Philosophy.

This work area coincides with the initiative that the new CatalunyaCaixa Social Project is running, which consists of analysing and working on nutrition from different approaches in the Alícia Foundation, paying special attention to encouraging good eating habits and the impact that diet has on our health. This area also includes the recent collaboration between the Alícia Foundation and the University of Harvard.

Another vital aspect is the relationship between food and art, and this has given rise to the Master's programme and the "The Art of Eating" exhibition which will take place soon, in which great artists from all over the world will take part.

Master in Science Management and Leadership:

  • With the cooperation of the IDEC-Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Universitat de Barcelona and Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona universities. A pioneer master university degree in Spain for professionals with an interest in acquiring instruction both in theory and practice of a high level, with a focus on the development of highly competitive aptitudes for leadership, management and the guidance of scientific projects.Curs 2008

The Master in Science Management and Leadership is the first such postgraduate course to be offered in Spain, and one of the first of its kind to be so in Europe. The course is a year-long one, from January to December 2008, and the classes are held at the IDEC-Universitat Pompeu Fabra.
Academically, the course is worth 60 ECTS credits, which is equivalent to 1,500 hours of study, of which just 300 are in classes attended in person, and these are divided up between the three trimesters of the course. The course is made up of nine mandatory modules and five specific ones, and the teaching methods used move away from passive ones in favour of methods that comply with the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) model, which makes independent study and operation on the part of the student, and problem solving and management of practical cases, a priority. The teaching programme is reinforced with a schedule of visits to different research centres.
The number of places on the course is limited and in this first set, 25 were offered. Caixa Catalunya has a grants programme and cooperation agreements have been made with professional associations for doctors, biologists, pharmacists and economists to provide benefits for their members.
